Eight new Marine and Coastal Hub research projects will begin in 2025, expanding efforts to support decision-making for Australia’s marine and coastal environments. These projects align with the hub’s mission to deliver science that meets the needs of end users, including government, Traditional Owners, and marine and coastal managers.
The projects focus on priorities such as improved monitoring of threatened biodiversity values, protected places management, and providing comprehensive data for environmental assessments. They will also address pressing challenges such as assessing the impacts of extreme weather events, updating knowledge on white sharks, and crown-of-thorns starfish control.
